Overview The Lateral Recruiting Specialist serves the firm as a trusted advisor by fulfilling the activities related to the recruiting and hiring of lateral associate attorneys, including managing relationships with legal search firms, reviewing and indexing candidate submissions, scheduling interviews and leading onboarding efforts. This role collaborates with and supports the Director of Lateral Associate Recruiting in developing and implementing effective, strategic approaches to lateral associate recruiting across all U.S. offices. Responsibilities Coordinate lateral associate hiring efforts across all U.S. offices and work directly with the Director of Lateral Associate Recruiting to ensure alignment and meeting of practice group hiring goals. Maintain data quality and accuracy in the candidate tracking system, LawCruit, for all lateral associate candidates; conduct quality assurance checks and provide statistical metrics. Manage communications in the firm’s Associate Recruiting inbox to maintain relationships with legal search firms, organize referrals, resolve submission issues, and handle duplicate submissions. Engage in all aspects of lateral associate recruiting, including strategic approaches for individual candidates, updating Practice Group Leaders and partners, generating pipeline reports, and scheduling interviews. Manage the interview process: scheduling, greeting, communicating with candidates, facilitating decision-making, collecting and conveying feedback, producing offer letters, and arranging after-offer meetings. Oversee background and conflict check research process for lateral associate candidates and liaise with the background check service provider. Manage onboarding process in collaboration with business support departments and practice group administration. Gather and analyze market intelligence and identify recruiting trends with the Director. Represent the firm at legal recruiting industry organization events. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director. Essential Capabilities Flexibility in responding quickly and positively to shifting demands. Minimum 3–5 years of administrative assistant experience, preferably in a law firm, legal recruiting department, career services office, or a professional services firm. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database programs such as LawCruit, iCIMs. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. The anticipated pay range for this role is: Chicago & Washington, D.C.: $70,500 – $107,550 New York: $73,900 – $112,650 The role may also include a discretionary bonus based on performance. Working Conditions This position requires a hybrid on-site presence as an essential function.
