GIZ was established on 1 January 2011 as the result of a merger betwen three organisations: the German Development Service (DED), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) and Capacity Building International, Germany (InWEnt). The aim of this merger was to pool the expertise of German development cooperation, increase efficiency and enhance Germany’s international profile as a partner for sustainable development. GIZ is a federal enterprise with the legal form of a limited liability company (GmbH). It is wholly owned by the Federal Republic of Germany, represented by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Our roots stretch back more than 50 years – with experience that goes back to the 1960s. Program Overview GIZ, EZ Trainee Programme , a junior staff development program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Training is provided for organizations involved in German and multilateral development cooperation . The programme is implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the BMZ. GIZ program focuses on expanding management skills and gaining work experience in program development and management within German development cooperation. The program’s structure allows you to learn about the structures, stakeholders, and workings of development cooperation from various perspectives through on-the-job training . Training Structure During the 17-month training program , you will complete four practical phases. After a one-month preparatory phase, you will begin with a two-month placement at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) in Hanover. This is followed by an eight-month placement in the aforementioned field and the specified country. Afterwards, you will choose a two-month placement with an international organization. The program concludes with a four-month placement at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The trainee salary is €2,300 gross per month. Responsibilities Your tasks during the first and second practical phases include: Support for geophysical investigations including field surveys, literature research and evaluation of data sets in collaboration with partners and colleagues Writing analyses, recommendations for action, and reports Support for workshops, training and information events for local partners Collaboration in the public presentation and public display of project results Supporting project management in reporting and project administration The two subsequent practical phases and the tasks involved there will be developed during the course of the EZ trainee program. Qualifications You will bring the following professional qualifications (Master’s degree or equivalent) to the first practical phase: Studies in geosciences, geophysics, physics or a comparable field The focus of the studies is in hydrogeology and/or geophysics. Geoscientific fieldwork and evaluation of the results Fluent language skills in spoken and written German and English The following knowledge and experience round out your qualifications: Knowledge of development cooperation First practical experience in a developing country Willingness to change location multiple times Open to use in different organizations Intercultural competence The knowledge and experience gained through an internship are sufficient. #J-18808-Ljbffr
