L2 NOC Security Engineer

Position Summary
We are seeking a Level II NOC Security Engineer with strong hands‑on experience in Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Palo Alto Networks firewalls to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) team. This hybrid role primarily supports customers remotely, with rare but occasional on‑site visits as needed. The engineer will provide advanced troubleshooting, security incident response, firewall configuration expertise, and cross‑team collaboration within a fast‑paced managed services environment. This position supports a diverse mix of enterprise customers and may require participation in after‑hours or on‑call rotations. Key Responsibilities
Security & Firewall Operations
Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Cisco FTD and Firepower Management Center (FMC) Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama Perform firewall rule reviews, rule creation, and policy optimization Conduct packet captures and deep‑dive traffic analysis Respond to and triage security‑related alerts and incidents Validate and troubleshoot VPN tunnels (site‑to‑site and remote access) Perform HA failover checks and system health monitoring Review and analyze logs, syslog feeds, and SIEM outputs Network Operations
Support routing/switching technologies including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, ACLs, and L2/L3 connectivity Collaborate with Enterprise Networking, Collaboration, and Datacenter teams Assist with LogicMonitor alerts and proactive device checks Operational Excellence
Manage incidents, requests, and escalations in Freshdesk Provide clear, professional communication to customers and internal teams Document troubleshooting steps and environment‑specific knowledge Collaborate with L3 Security and Professional Services on escalations Participate in configuration audits and best‑practice initiatives Required Qualifications
Extensive hands‑on experience with Cisco FTD/FMC Extensive hands‑on experience with Palo Alto firewalls/Panorama Strong understanding of routing/switching fundamentals Experience troubleshooting enterprise environments Strong customer‑facing communication skills Experience with packet‑capture tools Experience troubleshooting VPN, NAT, ACL, and HA issues Ability to work in a 24×7 NOC and join after‑hours rotations Strong documentation and ticket hygiene Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Fortinet FortiGate (bonus, not required) Familiarity with LogicMonitor, Cisco ISE, ClearPass, Umbrella Experience supporting multi‑customer environments Understanding of ITIL workflows Certifications
CCNP Security+ PCNSA or PCNSE NSE4 Security+ or CySA+ Work Environment
