Job Summary and Qualifications

Participate in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities and seek opportunities to improve department and inter‑department processes.

Perform special assignments as needed or requested.

Serve as a resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, contributing to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care.

Takes appropriate measures to ensure safety of staff and patients.

Perform routine preventative maintenance, lubrication and cleaning of HVAC.

Inspect equipment while in operation and make minor repairs and/or adjustments when necessary.

Inspect the equipment and operations to ensure efficient operation and maintained service.

Check HVAC observing meters, gauges, adjusting valves and other controls to regulate flow, velocity and air volume.

Check mechanical equipment such as compressors, pumps, steam boilers during preventative maintenance service.

Repair and/or replace vacuum, oxygen, airline and compressors.

Repair and install plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, valves, faucets, water heater, hot and cold water piping, sewer piping and steam piping.

Inspect and test electrical power circuits and equipment; examine and test elements of systems such as distribution panels, controls, circuit breakers and motors to locate obvious faults such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires or loose connections.

Repair and/or replace all mechanical or electrical components as necessary and complete documentation.

Complete all necessary information for equipment inclusion and history.

Perform a variety of general maintenance duties in and around the building(s) of the hospital complex and assist other associates in completing their tasks.

Run emergency power generator on full load to ensure proper operation in case of emergency.

Perform any other responsibilities designated by the Facilities Department Leadership.

Qualifications

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Boiler Mechanic Permit, HVAC Technician, Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Plumber, or Electrical Maintenance License.

Certificate, or work experience in lieu of a degree.
