Job Title: Blaster - AR Department: Manufacturing Reports To: Coating Supervisor Status: Non-Exempt Summary Responsible for preparing surfaces for paint application using abrasives, media blasters, or other methods as advised. Essential DutiesAndResponsibilities Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment. Shovel or pour specified grade abrasives such pi sand, grit, or shot into machine hopper. Operates, understands equipment processes and troubleshoot all blasting tools and other equipment as required. Regulate air pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle. Directs blast or flow of abrasive mixture over surface or parts as specified. Mask specified areas of object to protect from blasting. Examine and measure finished product to ensure conformance to product specifications. In accordance with company procedures, relocates and prepares units for next operation. Clean and performing maintenance and repairs on company owned tools and equipment. May perform tasks above ground level. Operation and safe use of forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly working environment. Complies with all safety, personal protective equipment, and material handling requirements. Performs other job duties as assigned. OtherDutiesAndResponsibilities Participate in meetings as required. Continue to improve processes to increase efficiency in job function. Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promote safety to others in accordance with Newterra’s safety policies and procedures. This includes reporting all safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, near-misses, and incidents to the manager immediately. Provide assistance to other departments, as needed. Accurately complete documents related to product quality, production efficiency or other reporting as required. Complies with quality management system standards in accordance Newterra’s internal quality standards. Responsible for completing all assigned training applicable to your position in the applicable timeframe. MinimumQualifications High school graduate or general education degree (GED) plus one to three years equivalent experience. Working knowledge of blasting materials, methods, and tools. Detail oriented to ensure the highest level of product quality. Forklift experience preferred. Dependable. KnowledgeSkillsAndAbilities Strong communication skills required. Ability to actively listen and follow direction and instructions. Strong eye for detail. Ability to stand on feet for long hours. Ability to adhere to strict safety standards and procedures. Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal. Safety training and certificates may be required. PhysicalDemands Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, heavy equipment, and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination required. Finger dexterity required, as well as hand strength, with ability to grasp, lift, push, and pull. Work involves considerable standing, stooping, or bending for long periods of time, must be able to climb stairs, ladders and aisles, and to lift and move up to 50 lbs. #J-18808-Ljbffr
