AMP is seeking to hire a
Commercial Counsel
who will serve as the company’s in-house attorney responsible for supporting the broad legal needs of a growing organization. The successful candidate will report to AMP’s General Counsel and must be a resourceful self-starter with excellent judgment, a keen eye for detail, and a strong sense of team and mission. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities As Commercial Counsel, your duties and responsibilities may include, unassisted or with reasonable accommodation: Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to enable and advance deal execution and commercial strategy. Draft, review, negotiate, and provide guidance on a wide variety of commercial contracts — domestic and international — including those governing: The sale and/or licensing of tech-forward waste and recycling solutions, including long-term service agreements; The purchase and/or sale of feedstock, commodities, and environmental attributes; and Licensing, partnerships, and procurement. Play an active role in the development and facilitation of RFI and RFP responses, including counsel on public procurement law and processes. Drive continuous improvement in AMP’s contracting processes, including templates, playbooks, tool kits, training materials, and FAQs. Compliance / Legal Department Operations Support design, implementation, and continuous improvement of legal and compliance policies and processes; monitor compliance. Assist with management of AMP’s external counsel and the contract lifecycle platform. Provide pragmatic, day-to-day counsel to management and business units to navigate commercial, corporate, and compliance issues and drive efficiencies. Other Assist with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other special projects as needed. Traditional in-house generalist portfolio as needed. Maintain regular attendance, in office or remote (subject to manager approval), as an essential function of the job. Education and License Required: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and applicable bar admission(s) in good standing. Qualifications Required:
6+ years of relevant legal experience (preferably both law firm and corporate in-house). Drive for results, ownership, accountability, and a willingness to make a difference. Adept at issue spotting, pragmatic problem solving, and risk management. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex matters clearly to diverse stakeholders. Professionalism, integrity, attention to detail, and strong planning and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively; adaptable to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
9+ years of relevant experience (top-tier law firm or corporate). Experience in the waste and recycling industry. Experience scaling a legal function or supporting a tech startup.
Supervisory Responsibilities None at this time Working Conditions / Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer. Full-time position (40 hours per week); may require additional hours or irregular hours.
