THE OPPORTUNITY Samaritan Daytop Village has continuous growth and is creating a new role as a 2-year succession path to Chief Financial Officer. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Accounting, Budget, Purchasing, and Payroll departments and for assuring adherence to the policies and procedures of the Financial Services Department. Working in collaboration with the current Chief Operating and Financial Officer, the VP plays a key role in executing the financial strategy of Samaritan Daytop Village and its related entities. They will have the opportunity to lead, mentor and develop a team of 50 staff and shape the finance department, while updating systems and technology.
ROLES + RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Oversight and Management
Manages the daily budget and cash flow of the organization.
Monitors and analyzes monthly program budgets and organization-wide revenues and expenses and recommends methods to optimize financial stability.
Prepares quarterly financial statements and schedules.
Evaluates and develops internal reports to assist other executives in the management of programs.
Review contracts and expenditures to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Responsible for overseeing corporate and funding source audits, auditing and reporting information to both the executive management and to external bodies.
Leadership, Staff Management and Organizational Strategy
Develops and maintains effective policies and procedures to support the organization and maintain proper internal controls.
Establishes short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
Continuously seeks to improve and update workflows and processes, including scaling the organization for growth and/or responding to internal or external factors.
Acts as liaison with external organizations including funding agencies, banks, insurance companies, and governmental agencies, establishing and maintaining direct and open lines of communication.
Presents financial report at quarterly board and audit committee meetings for multiple entities.
As a member of the Executive Management Team, participates in all relevant activities and responsibilities including strategic planning.
Supervise staff in the performance of fiscal tasks. This supervision includes observation, evaluation and development.
Support the Executive and Management team with financial and operational guidance and recommendations for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in public accounting or relevant business degree.
Minimum ten (10) years of leadership experience in accounting and financial management, with significant leadership experience in a large, government-funded multi-service not-for-profit organization.
Knowledge of New York City affordable housing programs and contracts preferred.
Track record of strong supervisory and team development skills, managing large teams.
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information and concepts in a clear, concise manner.
Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy and to exercise sound judgement.
Strong computer skills with knowledge of ambulatory billing systems, accounting software, payroll systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: MBA or other relevant graduate degrees / Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
The annual salary range is up to $250,000, plus benefits. The position title is flexible and open to discussion.
