Responsibilities The Associate Director enhances the student experience beyond the classroom by supporting events, extracurricular programs, and leadership development for part‑time MBA students. Key duties include:
Designing and implementing programming for leadership, career advancement, extracurricular involvement, and community building.
Co‑creating orientation, immersion experiences, and signature events such as commencement.
Serving as the primary contact for student life, leadership, and campus resources.
Providing individual and group advising to student groups and leaders, including nonprofit and affinity organizations.
Managing event logistics, vendor relations, and budget oversight.
Communicating updates and key information to students, faculty, staff, and campus offices.
Collaborating with leadership to implement initiatives that enhance the academic and student experience inside and outside the classroom.
Actively contributing to an environment of belonging, exemplifying Haas' four defining leadership principles.
Other duties as assigned.
Student Life & Leadership Programming
Organize programming that promotes in‑person and remote engagement.
Work with part‑time teams and student leaders to review feedback and recommend improvements, cost‑management, and policy compliance.
Signature Events & Immersion Experiences
Lead a portfolio of events, including orientation, immersion courses, optional signature events, and celebratory events like commencement.
Act as event liaison to the Haas Events & Operations team for room scheduling, hotel accommodations, catering, and vendor coordination.
Handle non‑academic requests from students, faculty, and staff during events and coordinate support with other teams.
Student Services, Communication, & Campus Engagement > Provide support on student life, leadership, and campus resources.
Apply student‑services principles to promote student success.
Maintain clear, consistent communication with all stakeholders.
Deliver precise written, recorded, and verbal communications.
Work with leadership to implement initiatives that further the academic and student experience.
Advising Student Leaders
Serve as the advisor for a portfolio of student groups, including the Evening & Weekend MBA Student Association and other affinity groups.
Provide support for extracurricular opportunities, academic policies, and navigation of resources.
Advise on UC and Haas policies to support leadership development.
Professional Learning and Growth
Engage in a team environment that fosters belonging and exemplifies Haas' defining leadership principles.
Complete required training and pursue learning opportunities as directed by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Ability to learn university‑specific computer applications quickly.
Understanding of university and departmental principles related to risk assessment.
Excellent written and verbal communication, including cross‑cultural skills.
Strong collaboration skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and project‑management skills.
Original thinking, judgment, and decision‑making ability.
Excellent interpersonal skills and professional relationship building.
Exemplifies Haas' defining leadership principles.
Education / Training
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, business, or related field, or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in education, counseling, business, or related field, or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & Benefits Annual salary range: $80,000 – $85,700. This full‑time, exempt monthly‑paid position offers UC benefits and is in line with UC compensation principles. Details available on UC's Compensation & Benefits website.
