Role Summary The Regional COO, North America supports the Group COO in overseeing firmwide operations, business performance, and controls across North America. The COO also leads the regional operational risk management function, ensuring strategic efficiencies align with the global mission. The role oversees product development strategy, data management, infrastructure, firm resource strategy, procurement, and firmwide sustainability and ESG resource management.
As a partner/managing partner, the COO is accountable for fulfilling COO responsibilities while contributing strategic input at the regional leadership table.
Key Responsibilities Product Development Strategy
Lead and coordinate establishment of new funds and separate account mandates for the firm's clients.
Build scalable infrastructure for regional fund launches, considering market standard structures, regulatory frameworks, and laws.
Manage engagement with internal and external stakeholders for regional and global products.
Lead operational due diligence responses for LPs and ensure readiness for investor scrutiny.
Firm Resource Management & Procurement
Partner with Regional and Group executive functions on strategic planning and execution.
Implement firm policies regionally.
Oversee human capital policies, compensation structures, and recruitment pipelines with the Regional and Group CEOs.
Support global growth initiatives, cost optimisations, efficiencies, and enhance business performance and profitability with regional management teams and business heads.
Provide resource and organisational management input into strategic decisions, investment analysis and new business development.
Drive vendor selection, negotiation and oversight for both fund/products and the firm.
Risk Management and Controls
Lead the regional operations management function, ensuring a consistent risk framework aligned with Group standards.
Identify, assess and monitor key financial, operational and compliance risks.
Lead crisis management, operational risk oversight and continuity planning.
Oversee internal controls effectiveness and remediate across North American offices.
Ensure firmwide data integrity, security and management for support of key executives.
Coordinate with service providers to meet risk and compliance standards regionally.
Support Finance & Audit and Operational Risk & Compliance Committees with reporting on regional risk exposures and mitigations.
Governance and Compliance
Ensure adherence to Group policies, procedures and regulatory obligations.
Maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity and security.
Act as liaison with assurance groups, regulators and external stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Development
Manage and develop regional teams to foster high performance, integrity and collaboration across offices and divisions.
Promote knowledge sharing, best practices and process harmonisation.
Serve as link between Regional finance teams and Group leadership.
Candidate Profile Qualifications And Experience
Minimum 20 years of experience in the financial industry or senior operations functions, preferably within investment management or financial services.
Proven track record in regional or divisional operations leadership roles.
Strong command of industry best practices, operational standards, risk management frameworks and resource governance.
Experience leading establishment of closed‑ended funds in North America and internationally (Delaware, Luxembourg, Ireland, Cayman, etc.).
Experience managing complex strategic projects involving internal and external stakeholders.
Familiarity with fund and investment regulatory frameworks and laws.
MBA or equivalent advanced degree from a leading academic institution.
