Join us as the Chief of Operations Service and play a vital role in delivering high-quality pension services to more than 230,000 participants and beneficiaries of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). As a senior leader within Pension Administration, you will oversee end‑to‑end benefit processing, strengthen operational performance, and drive continuous improvement across a global, multicultural organization.

Based in New York, the Chief of Operations Service reports to the Chief Executive of Pension Administration (CEPA) and leads global operational functions covering pension entitlements, operations support, liaison with member organizations, records management, and quality control.
Job Responsibilities
Leads a highly specialized Operations Service whose core functions—pension administration, entitlements, benefit calculations, and participant/separation processing—require deep technical expertise unique to Pension Funds.
Leads and manages the Operations Service work programme, ensuring timely and accurate processing of participation, separation, and benefit entitlements.
Oversees the Pension Entitlements Section, Operations Support Section, and Records Management & Quality Control Unit.
Ensures consistent application of UNJSPF Regulations, Rules, and the Pension Adjustment System.
Harmonizes operational procedures across New York and Geneva and ensures high service standards for clients in more than 190 countries.
Guides efforts to improve operational efficiency, strengthen controls, enhance data quality, and elevate client experience.
Manages relations with member organizations on participation, separation, and data‑quality matters.
Oversees the preparation of reports and briefings for the Pension Board, its Committees, ACABQ, and the General Assembly.
Supports strategic planning, resource allocation, and organizational priorities in coordination with CEPA.
Oversees budget preparation, programme reporting, staff performance management, and recruitment.
Supervises and develops staff, fostering diversity, inclusion, teamwork, and cross‑duty‑station collaboration.
Leads or supports the organization of operational meetings, workshops, and training activities.
Represents the Fund in internal and external meetings and inter‑agency discussions.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Advanced university degree
(Master’s or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance, law, social sciences, or related field.
A first‑level university degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted.
Minimum 15 years
of progressively responsible experience in operations management, human resources, administration, financial management, budgeting, or related areas.
At least 5 years
of experience managing and leading sizeable teams.
Experience developing and implementing operational strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Experience in pension administration or administration of staff benefits is desirable.
Experience improving operational processes or service delivery is desirable.
Fluency in English or French (oral and written) is required; knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
