Operations Accounting Manager - Pioneer Frozen Foods This role carries overall accountability and responsibility for providing financial representation and support for CHG’s manufacturing facility. Key duties include financial budgeting, forecasting, variance analyses, performance analyses, standard cost development, inventory valuation, and coordination of data collection to support local and corporate financial systems.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to plant operations.

Analyze production cost data (materials, labor, overhead, etc.) to ensure accuracy and provide meaningful insights for decision‑making.

Prepare and distribute key financial reports to plant management, highlighting variances to budget, cost control opportunities and performance trends.

Track and analyze plant capital expenditures (CAPEX), including budgeting, forecasting and reporting.

Cost Management & Control Oversee the plant’s cost accounting systems, ensuring all production costs are properly tracked, reported and allocated to finished goods.

Monitor and manage direct and indirect production costs (raw materials, labor, utilities, etc.) and recommend improvements for cost efficiency.

Work with operations teams to assess and improve production processes for cost savings, waste reduction and efficiency improvements.

Develop and maintain standard cost systems for the plant, including labor rates, material costs and overhead rates.

Inventory Management Oversee accuracy and valuation of raw materials, work‑in‑progress and finished goods inventory.

Ensure proper inventory reconciliation processes are followed to minimize discrepancies and stockouts.

Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to monitor inventory levels, forecast needs and manage aging inventory.

Budgeting & Forecasting Lead the annual budgeting process for the plant, developing accurate and achievable financial targets.

Develop and maintain rolling forecasts to align financial performance with business goals.

Monitor plant operating performance and adjust financial projections as necessary.

Internal Controls & Compliance Ensure plant financial operations comply with company policies, GAAP and industry regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA).

Collaborate with internal auditors during regular audits and resolve any discrepancies.

Assist with implementing cost‑control and financial system improvements to maintain strong internal controls.

Collaboration With Operations Teams Partner with plant management, production supervisors and department heads to understand operational challenges and financial implications.

Provide financial support and analysis to operations teams to drive process improvements and optimize resource utilization.

Act as a liaison between plant operations and corporate finance departments for seamless communication and data understanding.

Project Management Manage or participate in special projects such as system upgrades, new product costing and financial analysis of new product lines or equipment purchases.

Implement process improvements or financial system changes that enhance accuracy and efficiency of plant operations accounting.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

CPA or CMA certification is a plus.

5+ years of accounting or finance experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing.

Demonstrated experience in cost accounting, plant operations, budgeting and financial reporting.

Experience with financial systems (ERP, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and advanced Excel skills.

Familiarity with activity‑based costing (ABC) or other specialized costing methodologies.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Proficient use of computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) and related software.

Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory valuation and financial analysis.

Ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable business insights.

Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy, accountability and timeliness in financial reporting.

Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

Ability to prioritize projects and clearly communicate direction internally and externally.

Working Conditions And Physical Effort

Primarily office‑based; regular presence in the plant required to interact with operations, leadership and staff and to observe operations and gather data exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, odors and noise.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds at times.

Standard business hours but may occasionally require evening or weekend work during month‑end close or critical project timelines.

Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this role is $86,855.00 – $159,414.00. Actual compensation may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience and geographic location.
