Construction Services Group Director – HNTB
HNTB invites applications for the Construction Services Group Director role. The position leads a technical construction services group of resident engineers, construction managers, and inspectors across the HNTB Central States Office, covering Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Iowa.
Overview As Director, you will manage project scope, budget, and quality control for large and complex projects. You will coordinate project priorities, staffing schedules, and team assignments, ensuring clients receive proper resources on time. The role supports firm sales strategies, project pursuits, and proposal development, and you will report to the Senior Group Director of Structures, Geotech, and Construction Services as a member of the Office Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
Direction and supervision of the development, monitoring, and management of operating budgets for the departments within the group.
Oversight of the group’s activities, establishment of priorities, and assignment of staff to projects; collaborate with other groups, offices, and divisions on work‑sharing needs.
Drive the implementation of the firm’s strategic plan and HNTB’s Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA) process on project pursuits and markets.
Drive the implementation of the firm’s Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA) process through project delivery and contracting activities.
Drive the implementation of the firm’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) process, including work planning, monthly project reviews, and other performance methods.
Assist in marketing responsibilities, including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win‑to‑work activities.
Maintain client contacts to ensure satisfaction; lead and assist in sales and marketing efforts for department growth.
Assist in the development and execution of the office strategic plan; may participate on the Office Leadership Team.
Recruit, hire, develop, and retain department staff; support Department Managers with performance and compensation reviews and succession planning.
Actively manage project management activities—scope, schedule, budget, quality—and perform technical discipline tasks.
Lead and supervise at least 25–35 or more employees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field and 12 years of relevant experience; or
In lieu of education, 16 years of relevant experience.
What We Prefer
15 years of practical experience.
6 years supervisory experience.
Client relationships and construction services experience within the Midwest region.
