Job Description The Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications for multiple tenure‑track faculty positions at the assistant professor level, with possible consideration for associate professor level based on qualifications. The appointment will begin September 1, 2026. Applicants with a strong clinical and translational focus who can collaborate with UMass Chan Medical School, Boston‑area and Springfield‑area hospitals are strongly encouraged.
Research areas of interest include— but are not limited to— devices, hardware and instrumentation for biomedical applications; artificial intelligence (AI) applications in BME and biomedical imaging; and BME applications in women’s health. Other research areas are welcomed. Candidates are expected to teach existing undergraduate and graduate courses in BME and will be encouraged to develop new curricula.
Requirements • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field (or anticipated by August 31, 2026). • Demonstrated potential for scholarly excellence and an externally‑funded research program. • Ability to maintain an internationally recognized scholarly presence. • Willingness to teach existing undergraduate and graduate courses in the BME curriculum and to develop courses in their area of expertise. • Commitment to mentoring under‑represented demographics and operating in a diverse academic community.
Salary Range Salary (academic year – 9 months) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, expected between $79,350 and $131,123. The low end reflects the minimum salary for the rank in the collective bargaining agreement; the high end includes faculty with multiple years of experience. The specific pay will be determined when an offer is made.
