KZF Design
The Senior Civil Engineer is a creative self-starter willing to assume the day-to-day responsibilities of civil engineering design and production for assigned projects. The Senior Civil Engineer supports all areas of civil engineering design from concept development through final construction documents, and is a detailed‑oriented, confident decision maker capable of leading roadway and site design projects. This person motivates and mentors other team members and junior staff while working to self‑improve and enhance their own professional skills, and is an honest, reliable team player who works with all team members to develop and implement civil designs that meet the constraints of budget, schedule and client expectations.
Base pay range $80,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr

Responsibilities
Keeping KZF’s promise of design and client satisfaction
Demonstrating experience with both public and private projects
Designing, engineering and overseeing a broad range of project types involving Commercial, Educational, Industrial, Healthcare, Civic and Federal facilities
Working within and providing deliverables to Project Managers for a full range of budgets and schedules
Working with the Civil Director, Departmental Staff and Project Managers to meet KZF goals and objectives
Providing project and client management for the Civil Department in support of multi or single disciplined projects
Coordinating as needed with other disciplines such as Architecture, Landscape Design, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, and Plumbing to produce site plans that meet the project scope and construction budget
Assuming the “day-to-day” responsibility of civil engineering design/production for assigned projects
Preparing Civil Engineering design studies, written design narratives, calculations, analysis and project specifications as required
Participating in internal and external meetings, design charrettes and presentations
Mentoring, providing guidance, and providing oversight to KZF’s junior engineers and technical staff
Preparing design documents as required for all design phases (conceptual, schematic, design development and construction documents)
Preparing documents in conformance with KZF and/or Governmental standards
Conducting site visits and field investigations prior to design to understand project requirements and conducting field visits during construction to ensure design parameters and specifications are being met
Maintaining technical accuracy and quality control, constructability, code conformance, and an appropriate level of detail for project designs
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited US college
Completion of NCEES FE exam and NCEES PE exam
10+ years of experience in an Engineering or Architectural/Engineering consulting firm
Previous experience with utility infrastructure, stormwater design, pavement design, grading, site layout and erosion control
Experience producing site/civil documents in an A/E or Civil Engineering design firm
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and an understanding of its functionality with regards to site layout, grading, surfaces, alignments, profiles and pipe network
Experience developing design and construction documents utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience producing site/civil documents in accordance with local, state, and federal standards
Previous experience with obtaining design plan approval via local, state, and federal agencies
Preferred Qualifications
Desire to be NCEES certified with ability to be licensed in any state
Experience working on a variety of project types for a diverse range of clients in both the private and public markets
Experience in writing technical summaries, comment dispositions, and charrette reports
Experience with stormwater modeling software such as HydroCAD or SSA
