Provide legal support relating to real estate transactions. Review and negotiate proposals, letters of intent, term sheets and conditions with respect to proposed transactions. Provide input on the decision whether to send matters to outside counsel and assist in the oversight of outside counsel as necessary. A full understanding of real estate laws, statutes, relevant government agency releases, and court decisions is required.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Managing a wide range of real estate transactions (all aspects of real property acquisition and disposition) with minimal supervision.
Drafting, reviewing and negotiation of transactional documentation related to acquisitions and dispositions as well as construction agreements, land use & zoning matters.
Counseling and advising divisions on complex real estate issues.
Managing and coordinating outside counsel, including management of the delivery of services and cost.
Managing repeatable, controlled processes for transactional work.
The ability to manage multiple transactions, take on new responsibilities and handle novel issues is critical.
Minimum Qualifications
J.D. and U.S. state bar admission
Minimum of 8-10+ years of legal real estate transaction experience with a law firm and/or as in‑house counsel
Ability and willingness to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision across departments and job levels
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to identify, lead and manage a project or deal
Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented and able to complete projects and other assignments efficiently, timely and with minimum supervision
Superior written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills enabling timely and practical identification and communication of legal issues and risks
