Director of Banquets

Job Overview
The Director of Banquets is responsible for overseeing all banquet operations within the Indiana Convention Center. The role involves managing banquet events from planning through execution, ensuring exceptional service, and coordinating with various departments to provide a seamless guest experience. The Director leads a team, develops strategies for event success, and maintains high standards of service and operational efficiency.
Essential Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and execute all banquet and event functions—including weddings, corporate events, and social gatherings.
Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and preferences, ensuring their vision is realized.
Provide leadership and coaching to the banquet management team.
Develop and manage event timelines to ensure timely execution.
Ensure banquet setups meet client specifications and convention center standards.
Monitor and manage inventory, minimizing waste.
Develop and manage the banquet budget, including labor, supplies, and other expenses.
Prepare and present financial reports, including profitability and cost analysis.
Qualifications / Skills
4–6 years of banquet management or event planning experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of successfully planning, executing, and managing a variety of events.
Strong leadership abilities and experience motivating a team of banquet staff.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
High level of customer service and interpersonal skills.
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and reporting.
Other Requirements
Ability to work safely in wet floors, temperature extremes, and noisy environments; able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Hours may be extended or irregular, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
