Managing Director of Multifamily Investments
to lead the origination, evaluation, structuring, and execution of multifamily lending and equity co‑investment opportunities, with a focus on private value‑add and construction projects.
This executive will source and cultivate relationships with sponsors and strategic partners who generate high‑quality deal flow, while assessing markets, business plans, and capital structures to identify compelling risk‑adjusted opportunities.
This role serves as the deal steward from initial sourcing through underwriting, investment approval, ongoing performance oversight, and ultimate exit. Success requires deep financial expertise in multifamily capital markets, a broad network, rigorous underwriting and transaction capabilities, and the ability to assess sponsors, analyze project‑level fundamentals, and manage risk.
Responsibilities
Source, originate, and evaluate multifamily investment and lending opportunities across value‑add and ground‑up construction projects.
Lead underwriting, financial modeling, market analysis, and capital structure evaluation to support investment decisions.
Structure joint ventures, preferred equity, and debt investments aligned with risk‑return objectives and capital protection principles.
Build, strengthen, and manage relationships with sponsors, operators, brokers, and capital markets intermediaries to drive sustained deal flow.
Present investment recommendations and analyses to senior leadership, and guide transactions from term sheet through closing.
Oversee asset performance, business plan execution, capital expenditure progress, and sponsor reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Identify and mitigate project‑level and sponsor‑level risks, partnering with internal teams across finance, legal, and asset management.
Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and macroeconomic influences impacting multifamily development and value‑add strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
15+ years of experience in multifamily acquisitions, lending, structured finance, or real estate private equity.
Proven track record sourcing, underwriting, structuring, and closing multifamily value‑add and construction investments.
Deep understanding of multifamily market fundamentals, valuation methodologies, capital stacks, and development‑driven risk management.
A broad and established network of sponsors, developers, intermediaries, operators, and institutional capital partners.
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with fluency in underwriting both equity and credit investments.
Exceptional relationship‑building, negotiation, and communication skills in complex transaction environments.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, economics, or related field; advanced degree (MBA or MSRE) preferred
