Managing Director of Office and Mixed-Use Investments

to lead the origination, evaluation, structuring, and execution of commercial and mixed‑use lending and equity co‑investment opportunities, with a focus on value‑add, redevelopment, adaptive‑reuse, and ground‑up projects. This executive will source and cultivate relationships with sponsors and strategic partners who generate high‑quality deal flow, while assessing markets, tenant demand, leasing strategies, business plans, and capital structures to identify compelling risk‑adjusted opportunities across office, retail, and mixed‑use assets.

This role serves as the deal steward from initial sourcing through underwriting, investment approval, development and leasing oversight, operational performance monitoring, and ultimate exit. Success in this position requires deep financial and market expertise across commercial asset classes, a broad and established network, rigorous underwriting and transaction capabilities, and a strong ability to evaluate sponsors, analyze project‑level fundamentals, and manage risk to protect and enhance invested capital.

Key Responsibilities

Source, originate, and evaluate office, retail, and mixed‑use lending and equity co‑investment opportunities across value‑add, redevelopment, adaptive‑reuse, and ground‑up projects.

Lead underwriting, financial modeling, market analysis, tenant and leasing strategy evaluation, and capital structure assessment to support investment decisions.

Structure joint ventures, preferred equity, and debt investments aligned with the firm’s risk‑return objectives and capital protection principles.

Build, strengthen, and manage relationships with sponsors, developers, brokers, leasing teams, and capital markets intermediaries to drive sustained deal flow.

Present investment recommendations, underwriting packages, and risk assessments to senior leadership, guiding transactions from term sheet through closing.

Oversee project performance, including development progress, leasing velocity, tenant retention, operating results, and sponsor reporting throughout the investment lifecycle.

Identify and mitigate project‑level, leasing, and sponsor‑level risks, collaborating closely with internal teams across finance, legal, asset management, and development oversight.

Monitor market trends, tenant demand shifts, regulatory changes, and economic conditions impacting commercial and mixed‑use investment strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

15+ years of experience in office, retail, or mixed‑use acquisitions, lending, structured finance, or real estate private equity.

Proven track record sourcing, underwriting, structuring, and closing value‑add, redevelopment, adaptive‑reuse, and development‑stage commercial transactions.

Deep understanding of office and retail market dynamics, leasing fundamentals, tenant credit analysis, and project‑level financial modeling.

A broad and established network of sponsors, developers, leasing brokers, intermediaries, and institutional partners across commercial real estate.

Strong analytical and underwriting skills, with fluency in evaluating both equity and credit investments.

Exceptional negotiation, relationship‑building, and communication capabilities in complex transaction environments.

Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, economics, or related field; advanced degree (MBA or MSRE) preferred.

Salary: $185,000 – $260,000 per year
