How You’ll Make An Impact As the System Engineer (SE), you will provide onsite technical support to customers on a recurring or non‑recurring basis and serve as an escalation point for technical issues.

Location and Work Expectations

This is a hybrid‑remote role working on site with various clients throughout the DMV area (Washington, DC/Maryland/Virginia), approximately 90% of the time. The specific allocation of remote versus onsite requirements may fluctuate based on business needs.

This role also includes participation in a rotating on‑call schedule.

What You Will Be Doing

Provide excellent support to customers remotely or on site as needed.

Resolve technical issues as assigned.

Maintain utilization metrics above 80%.

Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolutions.

Design and build networks, VLANs and security rules.

Design and build GPOs to enforce policy across organizations.

Configure AAD and DirSync to O365.

Troubleshoot advanced applications, servers, and networks.

Troubleshoot virtual machines and drives.

Troubleshoot VLAN settings and configurations.

Create and manage internal DNS zones and settings.

Understand raid arrays and configurations.

Create virtual machines, drives, and configurations.

Create and manage firewall rules and configurations.

Migrate VMs from hosts and storage.

Update ticket notes and details daily.

Participate in the after‑hours support rotation.

Perform deployments and new system setups.

Perform datacenter visits as needed.

Qualifications

At least 3 to 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Experience with Windows Server administration, deployment and implementation.

Experience with email migrations – on‑prem, O365, Google Suite.

Experience configuring Intune/Endpoint Manager.

Microsoft Azure knowledge – implementation of VMs, VNets, Virtual Gateways, Virtual Firewalls.

Experience with SharePoint Online – implementation, file migrations, OneDrive.

Tenant‑to‑Tenant migration experience – O365 to O365, Google to O365.

Network infrastructure implementation and administration of routers, firewalls, and switches with in‑depth documentation experience.

Experience with Microsoft Hyper‑V / VMware LAN/WAN technologies.

Ability to create and document technical information for both technical and non‑technical personnel.

Ability to travel to client premises as needed.

High level of independence, strong client service skills, and organizational ability to multitask with accurate and timely tracking of client work, service calls, and related documentation including timesheets and expense reporting.

Required Language Skills

Ability to communicate professionally in English, both written and orally.

Ability to write business correspondence and process procedures.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.

Bonus Points

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable.

Experience with ConnectWise (Manage & Automate) and SCCM.

Subject matter expert for specific technologies (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, Cisco, etc.).

Certifications including:

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

Network+ Certified

Microsoft Azure Administrator AZ‑104

VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA)

Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds rarely.

Must be able to perform occasional bending, kneeling, squatting, and turning.

Must be able to perform occasional reaching over shoulder height, waist level and from floor.

Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Must be able to work in an unsupervised environment.

Must be able to drive / sit for extended periods of time.

Fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.

Must have a valid driver’s license in the state you reside in and access to an insured vehicle for travel to client sites / office.

Ability to work in an office environment while sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.

Compensation The base pay range for this position is expected to be between $75,000.00 and $95,000.00 per year, plus an annual on‑target bonus if applicable. The total compensation package also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, and PTO.

FLSA Status Salaried, Exempt.

This includes following Ntiva’s IT User and Security Policies that include but are not limited to password‑protecting all equipment, keeping confidential and proprietary documents secure, refraining from using public Wi‑Fi, and having adequate arrangements to avoid significant interruptions from caregiving responsibilities during work hours (except in emergency situations with manager approval). Remote work away from a team member’s normal expected dedicated safe workspace must be requested, is subject to review by management, and must adhere to Ntiva policies and procedures.
