CitiStaff is seeking a skilled
Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney
with
3–5 years of experience
to support our organization in managing and defending workers’ compensation claims. This role is essential in ensuring compliance, reducing legal exposure, and protecting the company’s interests through effective legal strategy and collaboration with internal and external partners. Responsibilities
Represent CitiStaff in all aspects of
workers’ compensation defense litigation , including hearings, depositions, trials, and appeals. Manage a caseload of active claims and provide ongoing strategy, evaluation, and risk assessments. Prepare and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements. Conduct legal research to ensure alignment with current California workers’ compensation laws and regulations. Collaborate with HR, Safety, Risk Management, and third-party administrators to gather evidence and build effective case strategies. Provide proactive guidance on compliance, claim prevention, documentation, and best practices. Attend medical evaluations, applicant depositions, and WCAB appearances as required. Negotiate settlements that support the organization’s financial and legal objectives. Maintain accurate documentation and provide timely updates on case status and outcomes. Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active
California State Bar license
(required). 3–5 years of workers’ compensation defense experience
(mandatory). Strong understanding of California WCAB processes, statutes, and procedures. Proven litigation, negotiation, and case management skills. Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
