Position Overview The
Quality Engineer II
is a mid‑level, hands‑on engineering role within DDI’s Quality Organization. This position independently supports incoming inspection, production quality activities, data‑driven analysis, and leads corrective actions across cross‑functional teams. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, proactive, and capable of taking ownership of quality engineering projects in a high‑tech manufacturing and design environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support and drive improvements to incoming inspection, in‑process checks, and final product verification to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
Interface directly with customers and suppliers to address quality‑related concerns and escalations.
Perform root cause analysis, 8D, corrective/preventive action (RCA/CAPA), and follow‑up to ensure effective closure of quality issues.
Collect, analyze, and summarize quality metrics, including defect trends, supplier performance, and production yields.
Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to resolve nonconformances and support RMA processes.
Create quality procedures where required and update quality documentation, including inspection procedures, test methods, and work instructions.
Conduct internal audits, customer audits, and compliance activities.
Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, process optimization).
Maintain the calibration program and verify test equipment compliance.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
Understanding of quality assurance principles, inspection methods, and problem‑solving tools.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation accuracy.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn quality systems (Arena, Syspro, etc.).
Good communication skills and comfort working cross‑functionally.
2–5 years of relevant quality engineering experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Preferred
Familiarity with basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, multimeters).
Experience in electronics, PCB/PCBA inspection, or electro‑mechanical assemblies.
Experience in the semiconductor industry, including exposure to semiconductor manufacturing processes, assembly, or testing.
Experience performing internal audits to conform with ISO 9001 principles.
Experience using statistical tools such as Minitab.
Experience qualifying tools and/or test fixtures.
Direct experience working with Contract Manufacturers in Asia.
