Shipping & Receiving Clerk (5063) Engineering Research Support Organization (ERSO) – University of California, Berkeley. Responsible for receiving, storing, inventorying, and distributing specialized equipment, supplies, and materials to faculty, staff, and students across campus labs and offices.

Overview Collaborate with ERSO Business Services, maintain asset tracking, coordinate with campus purchasing, and support fast‑paced research operations.

Perform routine inventory, shipping, and delivery duties while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with university policies.

Responsibilities

Receive, verify, and record deliveries of equipment and supplies; inspect for damage; update campus procurement and asset tracking systems.

Coordinate returns of items purchased with university funds; notify ERSO and purchasing staff of discrepancies.

Deliver received packages to designated labs and offices on campus; maintain delivery records.

Handle inquiries from ERSO community regarding shipment status and communicate proactively.

Prepare outgoing shipments to vendors or other universities, including labeling and packaging.

Maintain organized shipment documentation and keep supervisor informed of issues or potential problems.

Assist with bi‑annual asset inventory, photographing assets, resolving exception reports, and updating inventories.

Support gas cylinder delivery and inventory.

Provide suggestions to improve shipping and receiving processes; secure workspace at shift end; adhere to safety protocols; keep storage spaces clean.

Required Qualifications

Experience in receiving, shipping, or warehouse operations.

>Ability meet tight deadlines and maintain regular attendance. Demonstrated customer‑service excellence and effective communication with a diverse client base.

Independent worker with ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Working knowledge of computer office software, scanning, and email use.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds and forklift certified (as needed).

Familiarity with package tracking systems (e.g., WITS) and campus procurement systems (e.g., BearBuy).

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of BearBuy and campus procedures.

Experience in a comparable fast‑paced business environment.

Salary & Benefits Annual salary range: $25.63–$30.66.
