Our client, a leading real estate firm based in Manhattan, specializes in multifamily and mixed-use properties, is seeking a strong Assistant Fund Controller. This company is very stable, has a friendly and collaborative work environment, and offers a hybrid schedule (WFH 1-2x per week).
Responsibilities
Analyze financial packages including entity-level statements, investor activity summaries, allocation schedules, and performance metrics, ensuring that all reporting aligns with governing documents and relevant accounting standards.
Serve as a point of contact for investor inquiries and provide clear, timely responses.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external service providers to deliver accurate reports within required timelines.
Support day‑to‑day fund operations such as monitoring liquidity needs, coordinating capital activity, and partnering with portfolio, treasury, and management teams on cash movements, funding requirements, and distributions.
Oversee coordination with audit and tax advisors, managing timelines and deliverables to keep processes running smoothly.
Contribute to the preparation and review of recurring internal and external reporting, including quarterly and annual materials and presentations.
Verify that management fee calculations and related accruals are completed accurately each reporting period.
Maintain a high standard of service in all interactions with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Participate in building and updating team procedures, checklists, and workflow documentation to improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline.
CPA credential is a plus.
Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
Background in public accounting and experience with real estate or fund structures is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of partnership accounting, partnership agreements, and waterfall mechanics is required.
Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
