Responsibilities
Developing and implementing quality control plans and procedures
Supporting the application of quality tools and methods, such as FMEA and SPC
Managing the Corrective Action process
Responsible for change management including new process qualification and customer notification processes
Leading cross‑functional continual improvement teams to work on systems, procedures, quality, cost, cycle‑time, and yields
Controlling nonconforming material
Performing and responding to quality audits
Performing supplier audits as needed
Reviewing drawings and specs for compliance to customer and government regulations
Assisting production and engineering personnel to ensure delivery of quality products
Education & Experience
B.S. in mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, material science, engineering, or equivalent
ASQ certified quality engineer or Six Sigma Black Belt certification is desirable
5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering
Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Email
Skills
Problem solving – guide teams across the organization to find and remove root causes for complex quality problems
Understanding and developing quality systems (process and procedures for auditing, corrective and preventive actions, etc.) including ISO 9001 & ISO 14001. CQA preferred
Experience in data collection and analysis such as process capability studies and DOE data analysis. Technical resource on quality-related issues across the business unit
Travel 5–10% within the United States
Execute complex problem solving using intuition, induction, deduction, data analysis, and quality tools
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with ability to comprehend and communicate technical concepts to senior leaders, customers, and department heads
Handle special assignments promptly and professionally
Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency
Working Conditions Office environment
Physical Requirements Ability to work at a computer
ITAR/EAR and Other Requirements
Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, or protected individual)
Compliance with all applicable export control regulations
Safety Requirements All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and II‑VI Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.
Managers ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently, and that risk assessments are performed, proper training and work instructions are provided, required PPE is available, and compliance is monitored.
Quality and Environmental Responsibilities Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
