This is a full‑time opportunity for individuals who are looking to gain some Forestry experience. Our Vegetation Management Inspectors are ideal for professionals with an educational background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, biology, environmental studies, conservation, or related disciplines and who would like to gain experience in these fields and line of work.

NOTE: This position is designated as a safety‑sensitive role.

Duties & Responsibilities

Perform circuit patrols in accordance with the annual VM plan, VM patrol standards, and processes.

Identify required tree work along the existing PG&E rights‑of‑way; prescribe tree work to be performed; document inspection.

Understand the associated scope and ensure that inspections meet the applicable standard.

Notify property owners/agencies when tree work will occur and obtain any necessary authorizations.

Act as the VM contact for new business and re‑construction work requested by the energy delivery organization.

Perform work verification inspections, verifying applicable inspection and tree work completion and quality.

Investigate and document tree‑related outages; attend outage meetings as requested.

Perform tracking, field checking, prescribing of work, and notifying of customers for non‑routine locations sourced from EC/LC notifications, Gas OCW notifications, and CC&B cases.

Assist in closing out CC&B cases in the field.

Support emergency response as directed by OEC, including dispatching tree crews and field checking sites.

Complete tasks assigned by the supervisor independently.

Support oversight of vegetation projects, including field operations such as tree assessment and trimming.

Participate in contractor safety and tailboard meetings.

Act as a customer relations representative on behalf of PG&E.

Provide support and coordination between contractors, communities, agencies, first responders, and all other PG&E workgroups and stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations such as annual permits, encroachment permits, traffic control plans, railroad permits, Caltrans permits, and environmental protection measures.

Be proficient in electronic devices and documentation; complete electronic and paper‑based documentation and reporting.

Basic Responsibilities

Patrol distribution or transmission circuits and prescribe work to be performed by PG&E’s tree contractor, ensuring clearances maintain compliance for a minimum of one calendar year.

Determine when the next trim is required and whether a trim or removal is necessary, assessing all trees that could strike PG&E facilities for failure likelihood and hazards.

Identify, prescribe, and monitor required tree pruning and removal work needed to complete electric compliance tags such as 540 tags.

Notify property owners of tree pruning and removal work per the specification; map circuits using PG&E continuity list.

Manage EC notifications and cases; perform outage investigations and obtain permits from public agencies; document work in the VMDSR or other PG&E assigned databases using a handheld or iOS‑compatible device.

Use computers and associated software; enter data and process it from handheld devices.

Perform emergency response duties in accordance with all safety requirements, laws, regulations, and applicable labor agreements.

Maintain direct contact with PG&E division personnel, public agencies, and customers as directed.

Adhere to ACRT’s Guiding Principles.

Perform other duties as required.

Equipment, Environmental and Safety Requirements

Driving cars, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment.

Walking on uneven ground.

Exposure to excessive noise.

Exposure to extremes in temperature, humidity, or wetness.

Operation of foot controls or repetitive foot movement.

Exposure to dust, gas, fumes, and chemicals.

Prolonged periods of sitting (driving, meetings, training).

Use of forestry‑related equipment such as clinometers, range finders, logger’s tape, DBH tape, and safety gear (hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses).

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Required to maintain a Class C driver’s license.

One (1) year experience as a VMI or equivalent on a utility contract.

Active TRAQ certification required.

All hires subject to approval by a PG&E representative.

You must reside or be willing to relocate within 50 miles of San Carlos, CA.

Salary Range Disclaimer The base salary represents the wage ACRT Pacific pays for this position per the CBA. The base hourly amount for this role is $43.26 per hour. In addition, you will receive an in‑literature benefits amount of $10.82 per hour for every eligible hour worked, for a total compensation of $54.08 per hour. Unions may receive a $50.00 daily subsistence payment for each day worked in excess of 4 hours. Other factors may impact overall total compensation.

Salary Range Transparency For applicants residing in California, the hourly rate for this role is $43.26.
