The role offers autonomy in patient assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, and clinical leadership. Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist III is autonomously responsible for examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and discharge planning for patients with potential functional impairments referred to occupational therapy. Additional responsibilities include clinical leadership for a specific patient care program and assessment of staff clinical performance. Essential Responsibilities
Evaluate patients, discuss findings and plan of care, implement the plan, and regularly re‑evaluate patient status. Provide care to a diverse patient population ~85% of the time, with clinical guidance, triage, program development, or clinical research ~15%. Teach patients and families, supervise students, prepare and present in‑services, and deliver educational lectures within and outside the department. Mentor, orient, and assess competence and ongoing performance of less experienced therapists, therapy assistants, rehab aides, practice assistants, and support personnel; communicate results to managers. Lead designated clinical programs, collect, analyze, and review statistics and outcome measures, and recommend performance improvements. Seek opportunities for program development, teaching, quality assurance, performance improvement, research, and administration; support an environment of idea sharing and feedback. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy (Master’s preferred). Occupational Therapist license and Basic Life Support certificate. 5–8 years of related work experience. Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification. Basic computer proficiency; ability to navigate web‑based applications. Preferred Qualifications

Written communication: summarize and communicate complex information in varied written formats. Oral communication: convey complex verbal information in English to staff, patients, families, and external customers. Knowledge: demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures, and policies. Teamwork: collaborate in small teams, improve operations, and respect team members. Customer service: provide high‑level customer service and staff training; resolve service issues promptly and respectfully. Other Information
Age based competencies: competent care for young adults (16–30), middle age (30–60), and elderly (60+). Physical nature: medium work, may lift up to 50 lbs occasionally or 20 lbs frequently; requires standing/moving throughout shift. Pay range: $43.80–$61.34 per hour; may increase with shift differentials, call pay, overtime, or other practices. Beth Israel Lahey Health requires influenza vaccination as a condition of employment.
