The Electrical Supervisor will lead a team of Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant electrical, controls, and automation systems. This role requires strong technical expertise in industrial electrical systems—including 3-phase 480V, PLCs, instrumentation, VFDs, and low-voltage controls—along with proven leadership and hands‑on troubleshooting ability. Success in this position will be demonstrated through minimized electrical downtime, effective preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement of site electrical infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to Electrical and Instrumentation/Controls Technicians.
Plan, schedule, and assign daily electrical maintenance activities to ensure timely completion of both planned and unplanned work.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems, including power distribution, control circuits, PLCs, VFDs, servos, sensors, and control panels.
Lead root‑cause investigations for electrical failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure all electrical maintenance work orders are entered, tracked, and closed out within the CMMS (SAP or equivalent).
Manage inventory of electrical spare parts, tools, test equipment, and critical components.
Oversee installation, calibration, and repair of motors, MCCs, transformers, drives, instrumentation devices, and automation systems.
Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA regulations, and company electrical safety policies.
Monitor technician productivity, response times, and completion of preventive and predictive maintenance tasks.
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Reliability teams to enhance equipment performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide technical training and support on electrical safety, troubleshooting methods, and new technologies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; technical degree or military equivalent considered.
2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience within an electrical or maintenance department.
Strong hands‑on experience with industrial electrical systems, including 3‑phase 480V, power distribution, motor controls, and low‑voltage circuits.
Experience with PLCs, industrial automation, instrumentation, and control system troubleshooting.
Proficiency with CMMS platforms (SAP or equivalent) for work order and inventory management.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and OEM documentation.
Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and decision‑making skills related to electrical and controls issues.
