Nursing Program Director and Department Chair
Pfeiffer University seeks an experienced nursing leader to serve as the Nursing Program Director and Department Chair. This full‑time administrative and academic leadership position oversees the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, including the RN‑to‑BSN track, accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. The program enrolls a maximum of 40 students and is supported by a dedicated team of five faculty members.
Duties And Responsibilities
Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Department of Nursing.
Ensure compliance with CCNE accreditation standards and NC Board of Nursing regulations.
Lead preparation and submission of accreditation and regulatory reports.
Supervise and support five full‑time nursing faculty, fostering a collaborative and student‑centered academic environment.
Oversee curriculum development, implementation, and continuous improvement aligned with CCNE standards.
Manage departmental budgets, resources, and scheduling.
Coordinate student recruitment, admissions, and retention strategies in collaboration with university offices.
Teach undergraduate nursing courses as needed.
Represent the department in university‑wide committees and initiatives.
Promote faculty development, scholarship, and engagement in professional organizations.
Secure adequate adjunct faculty for instruction.
Secure adequate clinical settings for student placement.
Supervise part‑time Office Support Assistant.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in Nursing (PhD, DNP, or EdD) or a related field from an accredited institution.
Unencumbered RN license in North Carolina or eligibility for licensure.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in nursing administration, including academic leadership roles.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with CCNE accreditation processes and standards.
Strong record of teaching, curriculum development, and academic assessment.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Must submit contact information for at least three professional references.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in leading small nursing programs or departments.
Familiarity with liberal arts education and mentoring in a student‑focused environment.
Evidence of scholarly activity and professional service.
