Responsibilities
Lead strategic planning to establish a roadmap for profitable business growth, setting performance milestones that align with organizational goals and ensuring the effective execution of sales plans.
Drive the growth and retention of the existing client base by achieving sales objectives and identifying new business development opportunities.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with the local events industry, including convention and visitors’ bureaus, destination management companies, venues, and vendors, to secure new business for Nationals Park Events.
Collaborate with the Manager of Nationals Park Events and the Vice President to develop and maintain a strategic marketing and advertising plan for Nationals Park Events.
Manage and develop a high‑performing sales team, including the recruitment and onboarding of new hires.
Oversee the growth and evolution of the sales team to ensure focus on sustainable, profitable business growth.
Provide ongoing direction, development, and coaching to team members to reinforce professional capabilities and performance.
Implement and monitor programs such as hiring, performance appraisals, and employee training and development.
Foster a positive, collaborative work environment by connecting with other departments and creating a strong sense of “one team.”
Maintain regular communication with the Vice President, fostering an integrated work environment and inspiring the sales team to achieve key business objectives.
Lead the team in cultivating strong customer relationships and building a culture centered on customer focus to drive long‑term success.
Establish competitive rates and pricing packages for space and services provided at Nationals Park while ensuring accurate maintenance of P&L statements.
Demonstrate the ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment while maintaining professionalism and respect.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent military experience) in Business, Marketing, or Hospitality (a plus).
Minimum of 10 years in event sales and hospitality, specifically for venues with event space.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing sales teams.
Hospitality sales background preferred.
Additional Skills & Abilities
Creative mindset with an ability to identify ways to leverage existing assets for new business.
Proven track record of successful performance in meeting targets and objectives.
Demonstrated ability to conduct market research, prepare financial projections, and negotiate revenue‑driving opportunities end‑to‑end.
Experience developing P&L and pro‑forma projections for complex business relationships.
Strong skills in Excel and other database programs.
Must possess a strong marketing and customer service understanding and orientation.
Respectful and outstanding leadership skills with ability to articulate vision and strategy that inspires and motivates a team.
Ability to take initiative and manage multiple complex priorities within demanding timeframes.
Excellent project management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
Experience developing presentations and presenting.
Ability to travel as needed.

Physical/Environmental Requirements
Office: Normal office environment. Position requires weekend and evening work.
Event: Work in high‑activity, heavily crowded outdoor professional sports venue; may work at heights, be exposed to inclement weather, stand for long periods, walk long distances, climb stairs; may stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit; must lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
Compensation Projected annual salary range: $79,000 – $110,000 per year. Eligible for the Nationals Park Events Incentive Program. Pay based on qualifications, skills, expertise, education/training, certifications, and other organization requirements. Starting salaries may not reach the top of the range.
