Immigration Attorney – Removal Defense

About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Immigration Attorney with extensive experience in Removal Defense to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience representing clients in Immigration Court, exceptional litigation and writing skills, and the ability to manage complex cases with high professional standards.
You will work closely with our litigation team, supervise case strategy, and handle a substantial docket of EOIR matters, including detained and non‑detained cases. This role requires strong courtroom presence, excellent communication with clients, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Represent clients in Removal Proceedings before EOIR (master and individual hearings).
Prepare and argue motions, briefs, and applications for relief (asylum, withholding, CAT, cancellation of removal, adjustment, waivers, etc.).
Develop litigation strategy in complex and high‑stakes cases.
Conduct legal research, draft legal memoranda, and prepare evidentiary filings.
Manage detained and non‑detained casework, including bond hearings and custody redeterminations.
Supervise and support paralegals, case managers, and junior attorneys as needed.
Maintain timely communication with clients, even under high caseload pressure.
Collaborate with senior leadership on practice growth, quality control, and litigation innovation.
Required Qualifications
Active license to practice law in any U.S. state (California Bar highly preferred).
Minimum 5 years of direct experience in Removal Proceedings (detained and/or non‑detained).
Strong knowledge of immigration statutes, regulations, case law, and EOIR procedures.
Demonstrated experience conducting full individual hearings and preparing complex filings.
Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
Ability to manage a busy docket and meet strict deadlines.
High professional integrity, client empathy, and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience supervising legal staff or junior attorneys.
Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese (not required, but strongly preferred).
Experience with federal litigation (petitions for review, habeas corpus, TROs) is a plus.
