Job Overview RL Canning is seeking an experienced
Application Architect
to partner with business leaders, technical teams, and application SMEs to design modern, scalable application solutions that advance the health system’s strategic goals. This role focuses on defining application architecture standards, guiding solution design, and ensuring application ecosystems evolve from current‑state environments to optimized, future‑state platforms. The Application Architect ensures that applications are integrated, secure, compliant, and aligned with business and clinical operations within a modern digital health environment.
The U.S. base salary range for this full‑time position is $140,000.00 to $160,000.00 annually, W2, along with a comprehensive benefits package detailed in the "Benefits Offered" section of the job description. Compensation and benefits remain at the company’s sole discretion and may be modified at the company’s absolute discretion, consistent with applicable law, until they are paid.
In this role, you will
Evaluate new projects and initiatives to ensure alignment with application architecture standards, define technology requirements, estimate HIS involvement, and outline high‑level solution designs.
Govern application design and delivery by monitoring IT projects and ensuring adherence to architecture principles, patterns, and standards.
Develop and maintain application architecture frameworks that span data, integration, security, infrastructure, and user experience.
Incorporate risk management and compliance considerations into application design and governance processes.
Oversee application lifecycle management, versioning, standardization, and modernization efforts to support system scalability and long‑term maintainability.
Mentor developers, analysts, and technical teams to promote architectural best practices and enable consistent adoption of application design principles.
Create and maintain application architecture diagrams, solution blueprints, interface maps, and roadmaps to guide implementation teams.
Serve as an internal consulting partner for IT service delivery teams, providing application architecture expertise and solutioning support.
Define and evolve application architecture strategies that align technology platforms with organizational and clinical objectives.
Assess emerging technologies, trends, and application patterns to determine their relevance and value to the organization.
Collaborate with IT and business leaders to ensure solutions are interoperable, secure, scalable, and aligned with established standards.
Develop tools and processes to map applications to business capabilities, ensuring that investments support organizational priorities.
Establish feedback loops with delivery teams and business partners to continuously refine application strategies, platforms, and solution designs.
Communicate the value of application architecture and its contribution to improved IT outcomes and business performance.
Perform additional tasks as needed to support organizational and project objectives.
For this role, you will need
8+ years of experience designing, developing, or supporting enterprise application solutions.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Experience in architecting or developing applications within a large healthcare system is preferred.
Hands‑on experience designing solutions using public cloud services (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Experience managing or contributing to technology projects, including solution planning and implementation.
Willingness to travel as needed to support client engagements and organizational responsibilities.
