Program Director 2 – Law School Student Advisement Join the University of Houston as a Program Director 2 – Law School Student Advisement. This role focuses on supporting law students in academic and professional development within the Office of Student Affairs.

Department: Student Services, Law. Salary: 65,300 – 74,300.

Overview Responsible for the operations of a large program or center at the university. Oversees staff, budgets, and projects.

Responsibilities

Oversees a large department, program or center.

Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met.

Hires and directs the activities of staff.

Resolves personnel issues as they arise.

Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development.

Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center.

Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed.

Represents department or center to internal and external constituents.

Performs other job‑related duties as required.

Notes to Applicant The position works exclusively with law students to provide guidance on course selection relating to anticipated practice areas and graduation opportunities; counsels students on managing law school in relation to life demands; assists with professional development; advises students before and during preparation for the bar licensing exam; and oversees training and academic support measures offered by the Office of Student Affairs.

Education and Experience Basic requirement: JD degree. Licensure in at least one state is preferred but not required. Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of directly job‑related experience.

Preferred

Training, assisting, advising, supervising and mentoring junior attorneys.

Preparing, hosting and/or delivering law student and/or junior attorney trainings and presentations.

Conducting outreach to law students and/or junior attorneys.

Delivering or assisting with law student and/or junior attorney mentoring, networking and recruiting events.

Delivering or assisting with retention of law students and/or junior attorneys.

Having passed the bar exam to become a licensed attorney, any advising, counseling or assistance with law students or junior attorneys in their sitting for the bar exam.

Advising law students and/or junior attorneys in any capacity.

Counseling law students and/or junior attorneys during difficult situations.

Counseling and advising non‑law clients.

Assisting with onboarding and orientation of new hires.
