Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant This role involves supporting patients from greeting through documentation and inventory management, ensuring a clean, efficient and comfortable environment.

Responsibilities

Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Patient visit support including greeting patients, escorting them to exam rooms, taking vital signs, and collecting applicable medical information to support the reason for visit and recommended treatment.

Sterilize and prepare medical instruments; ensure exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready; provide patients with privacy, comfort, safety, and hygiene.

Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments, and equipment for all exam rooms.

Maintain appropriate paperwork for inventory control and review orders received for completeness.

Address and request referrals and other insurance authorizations; pass along patient information for prescriptions, x‑rays, or lab requisitions to necessary parties (pharmacies, hospitals, labs).

Qualifications Job Requirements:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.

BLS Certification required within 14 days of start.

Preferred Job Requirements:

Associate’s degree.

Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program.

Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care.

Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
