Supervisor, Clinical Operations – Houston, Texas
Western Governors University (WGU) invites applications for the Supervisor, Clinical Operations position in Houston, Texas. This role ensures clinical sites support nursing students’ experiential learning, builds relationships with site leadership, and represents WGU nursing in various capacities.
Salary Range
Grade: Management_Executive 605 Pay Range: $75,900 – $125,300
Key Responsibilities
Provide support for implementation and delivery of clinical experiential learning.
Coordinate clinical experiences, faculty/staff schedules, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Support student success and interact with students to aid progression.
Supervise, manage, and evaluate clinical faculty.
Develop and maintain clinical relationships to meet learning objectives.
Carry out departmental functions and represent SDON when absent.
Lead recognition activities for faculty and students.
Conduct program evaluation for quality standards.
Recruit, review, and orient qualified clinical instructors and staff.
Prepare requisite documentation per state regulations.
Represent the Pre‑licensure nursing program to external constituencies.
Support strategic relations with external groups.
Facilitate remediation and safety in clinical environments.
Model professional standards and promote safe working environment.
Conduct clinical site visits and ensure curriculum delivery consistency.
Attend required Leavitt School of Health meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Evaluation of teaching and learning against WGU practice standards.
Anticipate and adapt to changes in program requirements.
Work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
Align with national model and collaborate with teams.
Knowledge of simulation, including high‑fidelity and virtual reality.
Flexible schedule, including weekend and holiday coverage.
Excellent verbal, electronic, and collaborative communication skills.
Apply integrated technology systems and tools.
Problem‑solving and proactive organizational assessment.
Interpersonal skills: respectful, unbiased, feedback oriented.
Accuracy and reliability in information collection.
Adaptability to ambiguous situations.

Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Nursing (verified).
Pre‑approved as faculty if required by the assigned state.
One year experience teaching pre‑licensure RN programs.
Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of instruction.
Compliance with clinical facility requirements.
Ability to work 12‑hour shifts in clinical settings (am/pm, weekends, holidays).
Basic management knowledge (scheduling, coaching, processes).
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Nurse Educator (CNE).
Physical Requirements
Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on computer.
Lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Prolonged standing in a medical setting.
12‑hour shifts in clinical setting (am/pm, weekends, holidays).
