Job Supervisory Responsibilities:
Yes
Schedule and Call:
Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:30pm. Urgent/emergent cases performed 3:00pm - 7:00pm. Call is shared equally and rotated among the CRNAs. The CRNA is first call, MD/DO backup.
Overview ECU Health Chowan Hospital is a 90-bed rural medical center located in Edenton, North Carolina. The facility provides approximately 200 anesthetics per month across multiple surgical specialties. The schedule is shared with 4 other CRNAs. Surgical cases start at 0700 and end at 1500. Call begins at 1500. The OR is covered by 3 CRNAs and one anesthesiologist every day, Monday to Friday.
The coverage at ECU Health Bertie Hospital is CRNA-only covering Monday - Friday 0700 - 1500 with shared call at Chowan.
The CRNA will be employed by East Carolina Anesthesia Associates, one of the largest anesthesia private practices in North Carolina. The practice provides significant autonomy and immediate support, fostering collaboration and assimilation.
Job Summary The CRNA conducts patient evaluations, examinations, and medical histories to develop an anesthetic plan in collaboration with the anesthesiologist. The CRNA monitors the patient during procedures, ensuring safe care and optimal outcomes. Techniques include spinal, A-lines, intubations, and general anesthesia. Post-operative care is monitored to ensure safe recovery.
Duties/Responsibilities
Prepares and administers general anesthetics and pain medication.
Maintains patient records.
Works closely with surgical specialists.
Performs venous and arterial punctures, spinals, and A-lines.
Performs pre-anesthesia patient evaluation.
Provides post-anesthesia care and evaluation.
Provides and monitors mechanical ventilation.
Communicates with patients, families, and caregivers.
React appropriately to adverse reactions and complications.
Monitors patient fluid, blood, and electrolyte balance, and other vital signs.
Performs tracheal intubation, airway management, and extubation.
Monitors patients after procedures to determine safe transition to recovery.
Collects detailed medical history to identify potential allergic or negative medication reactions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with licensure from an accredited nursing anesthesia program.
Certified by the NC State Board of Nursing.
Minimum 3+ years experience providing anesthetics in a high acuity or similar setting.
Maintains certification and continued education.
Required Skills and Abilities
