Summary:
Management and oversight ofcompany’stax compliance, planning and accounting for income taxes.Reporting to the CFO, the role serves as a key financial leader supporting the company’sdecarbonization initiatives.The successful candidate willprovide tax leadership across all aspects of the organization, working withbusiness units, service providers, and other tax professionals in carrying out responsibilities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop and implement tax planning strategies tooptimizethe company’s effective tax rateand support strategic business initiatives.
Serve as the lead tax representative onacross-functional 45Z clean fuel production tax credit team, ensuringaccuratereporting, compliance, &optimization of production tax credits
Workwith cross-functional teams to assess and documenteligibility,complianceand financial impacts of 45Z clean fuel production tax credits and other various renewable energy incentives
Partner with Operations, Finance, Legal, Commercial and Sustainability team members
Responsible for accounting for income taxes under ASC 740 including calculation of current and deferred tax provisions and coordination of related financial statement disclosures.
Oversee preparation and completion of federal andstateincome tax returns including all related analysis and support.
Managesalesandusetaxand property tax compliance functions.
Coordinate responses as necessaryfor audits of federal andstateincome tax andstateand local filings.
Serve as a key advisor to the CFO and executive team on tax matters affecting the company’s strategic direction.
Work cross functionallywithoperationsmanagement and accounting staff on taxmatters.
Ensure thatappropriate internalcontrols are in place over accounting for income taxes.
Departmental liaison with IT staff on technical matters relating to tax applications.
Assist the Treasurer withestimating andmonitoringannual cash taxes andtax planningmattersasrequired.
Superviseand developprofessional staffto enhance technicalexpertiseand business acumen.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) inAccounting.Master’s Degree in Business Taxationpreferred.
JD and/or CPA preferred.
Ten years of related experience with at least 5 years in a public accounting firm orcomparablerole in a corporate organization.
Experience with ERP systems, income tax accounting, motorfuelstaxes, property taxes, sale and use taxes preferred.
Tax return and/or tax provision software experience preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Software
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
Musthave a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment
Ability to organize and direct a project to completion.
Ability to work with urgency and deadlines
Ability to multi-task and prioritize different requests.
Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to travel as needed
