Senior Policy Specialist – Legislative & Public Policy Practice Group Arnold & Porter is seeking a Healthcare and Life Sciences Senior Policy Specialist for the Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group in its Washington, DC office.

The Legislative and Public Policy Practice Group is Chambers‑rated as one of the top legislative practices at a national law firm, with lobbyists honored annually by The Hill and NILE as top lobbyists in the field. The Group comprises approximately 40 people and works in a high‑energy, fast‑paced environment that rewards initiative and teamwork in pursuit of quality client service. The primary focus of the group is on Congressional and regulatory advocacy on topics including appropriations and federal funding, education, technology, environmental and energy, financial services, foreign relations, defense, healthcare and life sciences, tax, telecommunications, trade, transportation, and veterans.

The healthcare lobbying team’s clients include manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, devices, and medical technology, hospitals and health systems, medical specialty societies and healthcare providers, non‑profits, health IT providers, coalitions, and other healthcare stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Work on a variety of policy issues including Medicare/Medicaid coverage and reimbursement, appropriations, drug pricing, and other issues impacting the life sciences sector, medical technology, public health, pandemic preparedness, federal funding, health IT, telehealth, and children’s health.

Qualifications

Minimum three (3) years of experience working in federal legislative and public policy roles; relevant experience may include healthcare staff work in Congress, or for a corporation or association.

Degree requirement: a four‑year degree; excellent academic credentials and references.

All Senior Policy Specialists must be registered lobbyists under the Lobbying Disclosure Act.

Application Requirements

Submit a cover letter, resume, transcripts, and a 3–5‑page writing sample on an advocacy‑based topic of the applicant’s choosing.

Writing samples of more than five pages or missing transcripts will result in elimination from consideration.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $95,000 to $185,000, depending on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, licenses, and location.

Bonus: annual discretionary bonus may be provided.
