This role sits within HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group and supports design and project work across mechanical systems within commercial and institutional facilities. This position is for the Senior Mechanical Engineer role within HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group. The role focuses on leading mechanical design efforts, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, ensuring code compliance, managing project workload and financials, and collaborating with project management and leadership. Responsibilities
Coordinate the work of Mechanical Engineers with the balance of a multidisciplinary team throughout the entire project’s development Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings regarding mechanical systems Assume the mechanical lead on projects Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance Lead schematic, design development, and contract document discussions at project sites with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines Coordinate workload across the project to complete documents on schedule Track financial aspects of projects and adjust team efforts to meet the agreed-upon schedule Collaborate with the Project Manager, Regional Controller, and Regional Director for project reviews with corporate management as needed Perform other duties as needed Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering A minimum of 10 years in mechanical system design for commercial or institutional buildings Professional Engineer (PE) license Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD Demonstrated leadership, previous team coordination, and project management experience Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm Commitment to active participation in an employee-owned culture Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in architectural engineering with Mechanical emphasis Healthcare, Science and Technology and/or Civic facilities experience What We Believe
