Base pay range $60.00/hr - $75.00/hr

A mission-driven organization is seeking an accomplished Fractional CFO to step in and lead financial operations. This is a mission-critical role responsible for guiding a $15M nonprofit through budgeting, forecasting, capital campaign oversight, cash management, audits, and board-level financial communication. The ideal candidate will bring nonprofit expertise, exceptional clarity in translating financial data, and the confidence to advise senior leadership on decisions that shape the future of the organization. Fractional CFO Responsibilities

Lead, prepare, and communicate the FY26–27 organizational budget; collaborate with regional Executive Directors and shared services leadership

Oversee FY25–26 Final Budget True-Up to ensure projection accuracy and alignment with actual performance

Meet weekly with senior leadership to review cash flow, financial statements, projections, audit updates, and strategic recommendations

Provide financial reporting and strategic insights to eight regional Executive Directors to drive sustainability and resource planning

Translate financial and budget data for the board of directors and C-suite quarterly

Oversee preparation, review, and submission of the annual Form 990 and support external auditors throughout the process

Manage financial tracking, reporting, and compliance for capital campaign and construction projects, including restricted and unrestricted revenue and expenditures

Support insurance renewals, contracts, and financing related to capital projects

Ensure financial systems, processes, and reporting align with nonprofit GAAP and audit-ready standards

Partner with facilities and operations teams to maintain timeline and budget accountability on construction initiatives

Fractional CFO Requirements

10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within nonprofit or education-based organizations

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business

Proven experience overseeing financial operations for organizations with $15M+ budgets

Strong understanding of nonprofit GAAP, grant management, restricted fund accounting, and capital project financing

Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing Form 990

Advanced communication skills with the ability to simplify complex financial information for diverse audiences

Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel

Experience with Salesforce and Monday.com preferred

Background leading audits and presenting to boards or executive leadership teams

Ability to navigate uncertainty in funding and budget forecasting
