Job Description MEP Coordinator

DPR Construction is seeking an MEP coordinator with at least 5 years of commercial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction experience. The role is responsible for the day‑to‑day coordination of all aspects of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, low voltage, and fire sprinkler scopes across projects. The coordinator works closely with project teams, executives, and regional leadership and handles estimating support, subcontractor bid reviews, scheduling, project logistics, constructability reviews, owner‑architect interface management, shop drawing and submittal reviews, commissioning planning, virtual design and construction coordination, onsite construction support, system start‑up, balancing, commissioning, validation certification, owner training, project close‑out, and MEP quality/safety program oversight.

DPR Construction is a forward‑thinking, self‑performing general contractor specializing in technically complex and sustainable projects for the advanced technology, life sciences, healthcare, higher education and commercial markets.

Estimating support, subcontractor bid reviews, scheduling, project logistics, and constructability reviews related to MEP systems.

Support pre‑construction and project teams in reviewing trade partner estimates and costs regarding design changes.

Manage owner‑architect interface for installation of electrical, HVAC, automation, plumbing, process piping, low voltage systems, fire/life safety, and fire protection design/construction coordination.

Participate in review of all MEP related shop drawings and submittals.

Assist in development of commissioning plans covering test requirements, inspections, factory start‑up, factory acceptance testing, vendor documentation, and integrated test plans.

Oversee coordination of MEP systems through virtual design and construction.

Provide onsite construction support for MEP systems, overseeing start‑up, balancing, commissioning, validation certification, owner training, and close‑out.

Develop and oversee project‑specific MEP quality and safety programs, including safety cause mapping for post‑MEP safety events.

Qualifications We seek a flexible, detail‑oriented team player who can manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.

Strong grasp of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering concepts and applicable codes.

Able to work with multiple stakeholders to identify and resolve complex MEP design and construction issues.

Ability to run complex meetings and follow up on deliverables.

Good understanding of fire/life safety and fire sprinkler systems and their integration with mechanical, electrical, and building systems.

Good understanding of test and balance process and requirements.

Good understanding of building automation systems and sequences as they relate to MEP.

Good understanding of MEP‑related safety regulations.

Ability to contribute to a safety culture in a construction environment.

Proficiency with virtual design and construction software.

Experience with CPM scheduling and lean pull planning; knowledge of Primavera P6 preferred.

Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office suite and Bluebeam.

Comfortable in an open and collaborative working environment.

Excellent listening, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to create and support a positive team environment.

5+ years of experience as an MEP coordinator, preferably within DPR’s core markets.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred but not required.

Strong work ethic and a “can‑do” attitude.
