THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION WITH NO MILITARY REQUIREMENT. This National Guard position is for a AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TERMINAL), Position Description Number PDT5825700 and is part of the Mississippi National Guard.
Duties Requirements CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES
Must be facility-rated in all assigned facilities, and maintain proficiency. Applicants must possess a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist Certificate and/or Control Tower (CTO) Certificate.
Must meet and maintain on a continuing basis, the physical and mental qualification standards established by the USAF or ANG for Air Traffic Control duty.
Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
Incumbent must exercise a high level of judgment and discretion, demonstrate verbal and written skills, and the ability to meet and deal with high-ranking military and civilian personnel.
Must possess ability to make rapid and precise judgments in real-time work situations, be able to remain calm under conditions that are stressful, and to coordinate at times many different processes at once, while adjusting rapidly to changes in the traffic pattern and tempo of work activities.
Must meet and maintain on a continuing basis, the physical and mental qualification standards established by the FAA, USA, and NGB for Air Traffic Control duty.
Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
Is subject to the special retirement provisions for Air Traffic Controllers under CSRS and FERS, 5 USC 3382, Involuntary Separation for Retirement; 5 USC 8335(a) and 8425(a), Mandatory Separation; 5 USC 8336(e) and 8412(e), Immediate Retirement; and 5 USC 8339(e) and 8415(d), Computation of Annuity.
Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license.
Wear of the military uniform is prohibited.
