Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Lab Associate II to provide general laboratory support. The role is full‑time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

This non‑licensed position is accountable for assisting with general support for the laboratory, following all applicable policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Prepare and organize samples for testing, including sample racking, aliquoting and tube preparation.
Label, handle, process, or prepare specimens and manage their transportation and storage.
Identify sample problems and resolve appropriately; demonstrate problem‑solving ability on service and production issues.
Prepare testing equipment and assist with preventive maintenance; notify technical staff of equipment problems.
Assist licensed personnel or delegated supervisors in pre‑analytic and post‑analytic testing activities.
Prepare pre‑analytical reagents and controls using automated or fixed‑volume measuring devices; submit documentation for approval.
Maintain accurate records of reagents or media using established procedures, formulas, and stock solutions.
Maintain inventory of consumable items, including reagents and supplies; order, unpack, log, date, and store upon receipt; rotate stock for use; restock benches and equipment inventory.
Sort and accession incoming specimens into the LIS and deliver to designated testing platforms/departments.
Perform data entry or transcribe data from recorded results to the computer for data reduction and prepare for licensed personnel’s review.
Tally workload data and prepare reports as requested.
Assist in the performance of quality control procedures.
Prepare protocols/logs or other appropriate documents.
Identify specimen problems and, if necessary, elevate to licensed personnel or delegated supervisor.
Assist a licensed person (e.g., CLS) with validation verifications and other R&D activities, as applicable.
Train other lab associates; support training programs, where applicable.
Takes initiative in making suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity; provide consistent feedback as a resource for process improvement.
Demonstrate leadership through accountability and collaboration in daily activities.
Answer phones, transfer or take accurate messages; maintain confidentiality of client information.
Help ensure laboratory areas are neat, clean, and organized.
Comply with all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices; required to use personal protective equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required experience
1 year of histopathology, cytology or other laboratory experience.
1 year of experience handling Protected Health Information (PHI) and other patient information using a Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Preferred experience
2–3 years of laboratory experience preferred.
Physical and mental requirements
Ability to lift and carry objects ranging from 1–10 lb frequently, 11–25 lb occasionally, 26–50 lb seldom; objects > 50 lb must be lifted with assistance.
Perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand.
Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods.
Good eye and hand coordination.
Knowledge
Working knowledge of reagent stability and storage.
Aware of factors that influence test results.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong typing skills desirable.
Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with management, co‑workers, and clients.
Other automation skills helpful.
Education
HS diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in science (highly preferred).
