Overall Objective Senior electronics hardware design engineer working in gas meter development Key Performance Indicators / Dimension of Function Timely completion of design and documentation for manufacture. Successful performance of design. Control and monitor objectives of hardware design team. Core Actions / Area of Responsibility Lead the design and development of electronic gas metering systems, circuits, and component selection/definition. Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and testing to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define project requirements and deliverables. Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including schematics, diagrams, and technical reports. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electronics engineering. Participate in design reviews, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving activities. Ensure electronic hardware designs meet Company, national, international, regulatory, statutory and customer requirements, EMC design, safety, environmental standards. Ensure that fully traceable requirements are written for all electronic PCBAs. Ensure completion of electronic hardware designs meets product specifications. Ensure completion of design and test specifications and associated documentation for the hardware design as required. Ensure completion of all documentation for the hardware design as listed in company processes. Own the component selection process, ensuring that all engineers follow R&D selection and approval processes. Willingness to travel internationally. Authority Level Responsibility for product safety. Responsible for signing off all project schedules, cost estimates, product cost targets, and technical design authority. Professional experience Design of full lifecycle of Electronics systems. Customer interaction Experience of working with flow measurement. Experience of product development for high volume manufacture. Understanding of Product Development Processes. Project experience Team membership Effective communication within team and business stakeholders Intercultural experience Experience within a multi‑national/cultural environment Person Specification / Educational / Additional Qualification Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Minimum of 7 years of experience in electronics design and development. Experience with gas metering or within the gas utility industry is highly preferred. Proven expertise in analog and digital circuit design, PCB layout, and embedded systems. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Altium) and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE). Strong understanding of analog measurement, signal integrity, microcontrollers, power supplies, EMI, and communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, USB). Experience designing around embedded RF (e.g., ISM, cellular) is a plus. Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to take ownership of all project aspects while demonstrating good decision‑making skills. Experience in high volume manufacture. Strong Root Cause Analysis skills Expertise of Low power design. Design for manufacturing techniques The following experience would be advantageous Design of microprocessor / micro‑controller based products, ASIC, FPGA design Pspice or similar circuit analysis and simulation tools Experience in the design of similar devices i.e. measuring instruments. The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
