Robotics Software Engineer - Life Sciences This role accelerates life sciences research using AI, robotics, and biology, developing a platform that scales lab work and generates vastly more data. You’ll develop robotic systems that manipulate laboratory tools, integrating motion planning, computer vision, and software solutions in simulation and on physical robots.

Location: full time, onsite position in San Francisco.

Base pay range $140,000.00/yr – $170,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement robotic motion planning algorithms and trajectory optimization.

Develop solutions for robotic manipulators to handle lab consumables and equipment.

Integrate, test, and debug software on physical robots and simulations.

Work directly with scientists to translate lab workflows into automated solutions.

Focus on robustness, scalability, and simplifying complex systems.

Key Requirements

4+ years of experience designing and building algorithms for robotic systems.

Experience with robot arms and manipulator systems.

Proficiency in Python.

Background in motion planning, kinematics/dynamics, or control.

Strong software engineering practices in production environments.

BS/MS/PhD in CS, ME, EE, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

Experience with robotic simulation platforms (PyBullet, MuJoCo).

Lab or manufacturing robotics experience.

Familiarity with mechanical design tools (SolidWorks).

Knowledge of software communication protocols (ZMQ, gRPC, Redis).

Contributions to shipped hardware‑software products.
