Compensation Range:

$150,000-$200,000 based on experience.

Location:

San Francisco/Bay Area (hybrid), 3-4 times a month onsite at a client location in the Bay Area.

Role Description This role acts as the Global Engineering and Sustainability Program Lead for one of Stok’s key clients, dedicating 75–90% of time to this client.

Responsibilities

Embedded Role

Act on behalf of the client’s real estate organization to implement, manage, and progress their program, providing regular updates to the client point of contact.

Annual strategic planning support

Develop annual and 3‑year planning for the program, including roadmaps for AI adoption, decarbonization, site/portfolio resilience, electric vehicle charging, and guideline development.

Process development & improvement

Inform project teams of program requirements, drive process improvement, and support development of new or updated global design and construction guidelines.

Executive communications

Develop and deliver executive communications related to the program to leadership within the client’s real estate organization.

Thought partnership and the business case

Identify areas for innovation and improvement, and help build business cases for leadership to implement them.

Technical escalation

Serve as the technical backstop for unexpected building system failures, guiding troubleshooting efforts and owning the problem.

Qualifications

Owner’s representation experience

Experience acting with accountability and authority, with transparency and credibility.

Account management expertise

Ability to spot opportunities to sell impactful work, strategize with internal teams, and coordinate across the organization.

Engineering experience

Deep understanding of building engineering systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, BMS, EVCS, renewables, etc.), with commissioning or energy verification background.

Real‑Estate program development

Experience designing and implementing sustainability programs focused on driving sustainability and reducing energy consumption.

Flexibility & integrate with client teams

Ability to quickly integrate into client processes and adapt to dynamic engagements.

Communication skills

Exceptional communication skills to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Project management skills

Strong project management capabilities across multi‑stakeholder initiatives.

Navigating high levels of ambiguity

Ability to manage undefined environments and provide initiative‑driven recommendations.

Additional experience that would be a bonus (not required)

Experience acting in an embed role with a client, preferably corporate occupier with a global office portfolio.

Familiarity with commissioning analytics tools or continuous monitoring platforms (e.g., SkySpark, Fault Detection Diagnostics).

Experience developing team capability or mentoring junior engineers and project managers.

Experience working in socially responsible or values‑driven firms (e.g., B Corp, ILFI Just, employee‑owned).

Time Allocation Stok will dedicate 24–32 hours of this role’s time each week to a single client. The remaining of the 40 hrs/week will support internal engineering team and other project or client needs.

Location Based in the San Francisco/Bay Area region; expected to co‑locate at client site 2–4 times per month. Travel to other client sites every 1–2 months; otherwise remote or in Stok’s San Francisco office.
