Senior Director - Practice Operations - Oncology and Palliative
Location: South Portland, ME Facility: Medical Group Practices Schedule: Full Time Shift: Day Job Category: Management/Leadership Req #: 46074 Date Posted: Nov 16, 2025 MaineHealth Medical Group is seeking an experienced ambulatory medical practice leader to serve as its next Senior Director of Practice Operations for Oncology and Palliative Care Medicine. Working in a dyad relationship with the Senior Medical Directors and in partnership with medical group and service line leaders, this position will provide operational and strategic oversight of the Southern Region practices and will be responsible for advancing the vision and continual growth of these specialties. The successful candidate will be an experienced medical practice leader within an integrated health system and with proven success collaborating with physicians and care team members around initiatives to improve patient experience, access, quality & safety, team engagement and financial performance. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education:
Master’s degree in business administration, Hospital Administration or related field. License/Certifications:
N/A Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive and relevant healthcare management experience. Extensive experience in the disciplines of oncology and palliative care preferred. Additional Skills/Requirements Required:
Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of financial management. Demonstrated strategic thinking, planning abilities and the ability lead both through influence and direct authority. Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with the ability to communicate effectively and to lead a broad range of stakeholders. Analytical and critical thinking skills are necessary to evaluate and to execute strategic initiatives, to recommend changes, and then to implement business processes. Interpersonal communication skills are associated with managing a complex organization as well as the necessary skills to influence, to negotiate, and to resolve problems effectively and to make strategic and tactical decisions with senior leaders, department directors, physicians, and clinicians.
