About Our Retail Team Become part of the dedicated Retail Team at The Salvation Army! Together we can continue to serve and impact our local community through the commitment to “Do The Most Good” at our Seaside Thrift Store, which supports the Adult Rehabilitation Program.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years previous Retail Management/Supervisory experience.
Ability to operate POS/Cash Register and schedule & supervise store employees.
Valid Driver’s license with proof of insurance.
Pass background check (Criminal History & Sex Offender Registry).
Effective verbal and written communication skills with management, staff, customers, and donors.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as file cabinets, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks, and hand trucks.
Ability to operate a telephone.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Partner with the Store Manager in the day‑to‑day operation of the store.
Take responsibility for all store operations in the Store Manager’s absence.
Provide coaching, training, and development to store employees.
Maintain excellent customer, donor, and community relations; resolve complaints and ensure efficient service.
Coordinate daily morning and shift‑change team meetings when the Store Manager is absent.
Supervise employees to ensure compliance with published directives and guidelines.
Train new personnel on store policies and procedures.
Communicate personnel issues with the District Sales Manager and issue disciplinary actions as needed.
Complete all tasks assigned by the Store Manager, District Sales Manager, Command Retail Directors, and Command Administration.
Process paperwork per Review Standards, especially Time and Attendance compliance.
Maintain store at ARC Merchandising Standards; manage adequate inventory levels and complete regular and accurate “Rag Out” from the sales floor.
Ensure Material Handlers meet daily processing goals and follow Material Handler Standard Operating Procedures.
Ensure adequate cash at the beginning of each day; safeguard cash in registers and safe; bank cash receipts per ARCC policy.
Attend Monthly Store Meetings and assist in establishing and maintaining safety measures per ARC policy and regulations.
Assist with Weekly Store Meetings and hazard reporting to Administration.
Protect property and building and implement appropriate loss prevention measures.
Perform other written or verbal duties as assigned by leadership.
