"DOING THE MOST GOOD" Assistant Store Manager - SF Main Thrift Store PAY RATE: $19.50 / Full Time Benefited Position

ABOUT THE ARC The Salvation Army (TSA) Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a no-fee program that assists men and women in completing our rehabilitation program. The organization relies on the hard work and dedication of its employees to maintain and improve program effectiveness.

ABOUT OUR RETAIL TEAM Join the dedicated Retail Team at the Seaside Thrift Store. Create a positive shopping/donor experience, strengthen customer service, and support the Adult Rehabilitation Program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 2 years of Retail Management or Supervisory experience.

Proficient in POS/Cash Register operation, scheduling, and employee supervision.

Valid Driver’s license with proof of insurance.

Pass a background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.

Strong communication skills with managers, staff, customers, and donors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist continuously.

Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs. while handling merchandise and equipment.

Operate a telephone and perform repetitive motion tasks.

Use of hand trucks, dollies, and other carts for heavy lifting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Takes an active role and partners with the Store Manager in daily operations.

Manages all day‑to‑day store operations in the Store Manager’s absence.

Provides coaching, training, and development to Store Employees.

Ensures Customer/Donor needs are met through excellent relations and quick service.

Coordinates daily morning and shift change meetings when the Store Manager is absent.

Supervises employees to ensure compliance with store directives and guidelines.

Imparts training on store policies and procedures.

Communicates personnel issues with the District Sales Manager and issues disciplinary action as needed.

Completes all tasks assigned by the Store Manager, District Sales Manager, and Command Retail Directors.

Processes paperwork per Review Standards, especially Time and Attendance compliance.

Maintains store merchandising standards and inventory levels; ensures regular Rag Out from the sales floor.

Manages Back‑Room Processing, ensuring Material Handlers meet daily goals.

Ensures Sales Associates and Material Handlers at donation sites perform efficiently.

Handles daily cash and register custody, safeguarding cash and safe, and banks receipts per policy.

Attends Monthly Store Meetings and assists in safety management.

Ensures safety measures align with ARC policy and governmental regulations.

Protects property and building.

Transfers between stores as directed by Command Retail Directors.

Implements loss prevention measures.

Performs other duties assigned by management.

Education

GED or better.

High School or Equivalent or better.
