Position Summary The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and well‑being of all members, guests, staff, and visitors of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church. This role oversees security operations for all church‑sponsored and non‑church‑sponsored events held on church property. The CSO will monitor facilities, manage access control, respond to emergency situations, and maintain consistent communication with church leadership. This position functions as an official staff role and adheres to the Personnel Handbook and Systematic Procedural Updates.

Job Duties

Provide a visible security presence during scheduled hours and designated events.

Monitor premises to deter unauthorized access and promptly address security concerns.

Maintain awareness of all activities occurring on church property.

Manage entry and exit points to ensure only authorized individuals gain access.

Implement and maintain entry protocols for events, services, and facility rentals.

Respond to medical emergencies, fire alarms, disturbances, and security breaches.

Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and medical personnel as needed.

Maintain readiness through knowledge of emergency procedures and evacuation plans.

Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols of all church facilities.

Identify potential security risks and take appropriate action to prevent incidents.

Assist with directing and organizing large gatherings to ensure order and safety.

Support ministry teams in maintaining smooth flow during services, events, and special programs.

Communicate weekly schedules, security needs, and incident reports to church leadership.

Participate in meetings regarding upcoming events and security planning.

Maintain all required certifications, licenses, and compliance documents.

Standard Weekly Schedule The CSO will maintain the following standard weekly schedule, with additional hours assigned. Additional hours may be required based on church needs, holiday services, funerals, weddings, or community use of facilities.

Qualifications

Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or emergency response preferred.

Physical ability to patrol large areas and respond quickly to emergencies.
