Base pay range $19.62/hr - $25.50/hr

As a full‑time

Assistant Store Manager , you are passionate about providing the best shoe store experience for the whole family through customer engagement. You act as the store leader in the absence of the Store Manager, motivating a team to achieve sales targets and growth goals. By demonstrating, training, and supporting an in‑store culture, you create a place where customers say, “I’ll take it” and remain loyal to the store, the brands, and the company. You are enthusiastic about the product and presentation of your store, staying up to date on trends, and supporting the education of the store team to do the same. Most importantly, you LOVE shoes and help every person who enters your store experience a little bit of that Famous Feeling.

What You’ll Be Doing

Inspire the Customer Connection: Inspire associates with integrity and drive, fostering a culture of caring and camaraderie focused on customer relationships, operational excellence, and flawless delivery. Infuse coaching moments for the selling behaviors behind our Customer Connection.

Champion Talent Discovery: Seek out and network with exceptional external talent, knowing each hire can elevate sales growth. Collaborate with the Store Manager to interview and hire individuals passionate about creating top‑notch customer experiences.

Ace Retail Operations & Support Staffing Levels: Master retail operational fundamentals—from pricing to shipping processing to inventory—and keep the store running smoothly. Support staffing levels set by the Store Manager, considering associate availability, peak days, and seasonal hiring needs.

Leverage Insights to Deliver Results: Take accountability for goals and their impact on overall performance. Drive sales to achieve objectives and, in partnership with the Store Manager, apply insights and observations to continually improve results.

Be a Culture Builder: Support a work and team environment where diversity and inclusivity are valued. Maintain and encourage a positive and proactive mindset, lead by example, and uplifts and supports others. Your engagement will increase retention and improve associate effort and performance.

Be the Store Manager’s Right Hand: Step into the Store Manager’s shoes when he/she is away, further developing your people leadership and store management skillset. Enforce policies, ensure compliance, and develop internal talent in partnership with the Store Manager.

Essential Functions Other responsibilities may be performed as needed to ensure the needs of the business are met.

Preferred Qualifications & Education

High School Diploma or GED.

At least 1 year of sales experience (retail sales preferred).

Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training people.

Ability to lead, motivate, manage, and communicate positively with store associates at all levels.

Skill in training, coaching, and developing associates for engaging customer experiences and operational tasks.

Independent judgment and discretion in partnership with the Store Sales Manager.

Strong cognitive skills, including problem solving, analysis, decision making, and quantitative analysis.

Advanced knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.

Flexible schedule availability: holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.

Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements And/or Environment

Regularly lift up to 40 lbs. from floor level to above shoulder height.

Walk, stand, stoop, kneel, climb, push, pull, and repetitive lifting frequently.

Mobile on the sales floor for extended periods.

Legal requirement: ≥1 year of sales experience, preferably retail.

Advanced understanding of general retail practices and procedures.

Experience as a team leader, motivating and communicating with associates to achieve goals.

Proficient in interviewing, hiring, and training teams.

Excellent mentoring and training skills for selling techniques and operational processes.

Flexible schedule includes holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.
